About Alaric Saltzman

Alaric Saltzman, AKA wall-hanging-cat, has been with us since 2022. Alaric has been a long time labor of love in our facility. He has made slow but remarkable progress in the time he has been with us. On day one, when we let Alaric out in the room, he launched himself up trying to climb the wall and attached himself to the chair rail, hence wall-hanging-cat was born. Alaric seems to buddy up with the female cats in the room and spend time with them, quite the ladies man he is. When it comes to people, Alaric keeps a VERY small circle of trusted humans, with his ears poking out of a bed being the only sign he exists in the room. He is very head-shy but if you go slow and start petting him on his back he does better. We can tell he wants to be affectionate, he just gets spooked easily. If you take the time to get to know him and pay close attention to his cues you can usually get some good pets in. Alaric would do best in a home with mature adults that understand he needs space and aren’t going to push him into spending time with them. Someone who understands he is happy to exist and will not necessarily spend a ton of time with them but will be an amazing friend for a lonely kitty. He also wants you to know there is bonus points if you have lots of windows he can watch lizards and birds from. Alaric is at Princeton's Meow and can be seen during open hours. We recommend you get preapproved before visiting so you can take home your new friend the same day.
