About Rasta DR7039

This little cutie is Rasta! Or Rasta Pasta as he's affectionately called by his friends. We believe Rasta is around three years old and he's about ten pounds. Rasta was found as a stray on the side of the road by our local animal control. He had an injured leg that may have been due to being hit by a car but thankfully the injury caused no lasting damaged and he's 100% now! We don't know Rasta's story before coming to us, but we do know that he hadn't been on heartworm prevention as he's unfortunately heartworm positive. He's about a month in to his four month treatment plan and will be available for adoption once his treatment is complete. Rasta would benefit from a foster or foster-to-adopt home while he is undergoing treatment. Rasta is a sweet and cuddly guy with the people he knows but can come off as either timid or standoffish with strangers. We're working on his socialization with new people so he'll need a patient person to give him the time he needs to feel comfortable. Rasta is not a fan of small children or most dogs. He has made friends with an older chihuahua here, but he usually takes the approach of yell first and ask questions later when he sees other dogs. A quiet home with little traffic would be ideal for him. He's definitely a character that will keep you on your toes though. He loves to army crawl around outside and is the nosy neighbor, wondering what everyone is up to. If you're interested in fostering this little guy, please call us at (704) 784-7387.

*Any potential foster must live in the Cabarrus/Mecklenburg area as Rasta will need frequent visits to the shelter for his heartworm treatment.*
